A little bit of history and our motivation: The central idea of the project before its inception in 2018 was to give an exceptional Christmas gift – a treatment at ADELI. The ADELI family decided to move the hearts of good people and raise funds for neurorehabilitation at ADELI Medical Center for those who remain forgotten at the margins of society. And so we helped to improve their independence, mobility, make them feel cared for, to give comfort to 8 adults from Social Services Homes and 7 children from foster families.
There are 68 state and 43 private CENTERS for children and families in Slovakia. Behind these factual numbers there are 6000 fates of children who are not lucky enough to grow up in a family environment. Their family is a team of educators, nurses and social workers. Siblings are children with the same fate. They grow up either directly in the Centers for Children and Families, in groups that have given themselves different names such as Pandas, Storks, Giraffes, or in professional families that fall under these centers. The staff of the Centers do their best for them, but the children’s hearts are sore and wronged. Their prospects for a successful life are less than those of children who grow up in their own families. When health problems are added to the mix, the bounty of fate becomes unbearable.
This year, we will connect ADELI with the Centers for Children and Families. In addition to rehabilitation, we want to provide parents with lectures on child development, the possibility of their development in the home environment, as well as diagnostic, therapeutic intervention options in their locality.
