My husband and I are raising our four children. Two healthy and 13-year-old twins with disabilities, Timotej and Alex. The boys were born prematurely at 30 weeks. During a difficult spontaneous labor, brain damage occurred. They fought bravely and began to progress. When they were seven months old, they received the DTP vaccination. Subsequently, within two weeks, a rapid change occurred. At the age of one, a doctor diagnosed them with cerebral palsy.
Over twelve years, we have attended dozens of rehabilitation stays together, tried various alternative therapy methods, and undergone surgical procedures. Neither of them can walk. Alex can crawl, sit, and is learning to take a few steps. Timotej sits with support. The boys attend a special elementary school. They enjoy listening to fairy tales and fables, and we read encyclopedias to them. They like going to the cinema and watching television. Both fight patiently, are goal-oriented, and persistent. Their wish is to learn to walk and be able to play football with their peers. We are making a maximum effort to teach them as much as possible, so they are as independent as possible, and get as close as possible to the level of their healthy peers. But we can no longer manage this on our own.
We cannot provide adequate care for our twins on our income. Therefore, we are turning to you. We ask for help and support for our family so that our twins can continue to rehabilitate and progress. Our boys benefit from and are advanced by the complex therapies used at ADELI Medical Center in Piešťany. Attending this program is financially demanding for us. The boys need to exercise constantly to prevent their current condition from worsening and to avoid limb deformities. They undergo rehabilitation every day at home. This means physical and mental effort for them, as well as for us, the parents. But together, with strong will, we manage our daily difficulties because we are driven by a common goal: to do our best so that our „little nuts,“ Timotej and Alex, can live full lives filled with joy and happiness.
