The story of our unique lives began to take shape from birth, since we are twins - Majka a Lenka Stepanek .
We were born on March 13, 2001, at the Trnava maternity hospital. Our pregnancy Mummy proceeded as planned, although my mother had to be constantly monitored by doctors and a gynecologist . When we were born prematurely at 35 weeks, the doctors claimed we were healthy and vital and that Mom shouldn't tempt fate.
Everything began to change about six months into our lives when our caring and devoted mother noticed deviations in our early development. During this period, we couldn't sit up properly, hold a toy in our hands, or walk and maintain stability. And so began a lifelong struggle and a whirlwind concerning our health. We had to regularly visit a pediatrician, a neurologist, an orthopedist, and a general practitioner. It was a long-term battle because they couldn't diagnose us correctly for a long time. Until one day, our mom insisted on it and scheduled us an appointment with the pediatrician, who then wrote the diagnosis in our medical records – cerebral palsy.
Our family and loved ones couldn't come to terms with this news, as we didn't understand the abbreviation before. However, the pediatrician confirmed this diagnosis to us around the age of 1 year. To improve our lives, we exercised after receiving this diagnosis. Vojta's method, went to rehabilitation, to spas, to hippotherapy and hydrotherapy, which partially helped us to relax Spasms on both limbs and thanks to these therapies and approximately three to four surgeries Achilles tracks and auditors Today we stand on our own two feet. .
Hello. The rehabilitation at ADELI in Piešťany and the financial support from the ADELI Foundation have set us on the right path. Both of us have gone through a lot of physical effort, sacrifice, and perseverance on the road to achieving our goals, and we know that our journey to the top has not ended yet. Our health condition will not change and will continue to persist, which we both realize. However, at the ADELI center in Piešťany, we would like to work harder and continuously improve our fine and gross motor skills, spatial orientation, stability, posture, and last but not least, reduce cramps in both limbs, and learn to overcome our own limitations and life obstacles through two-week training intervals. . We know it won't be easy, just like nothing in any person's life, but we are willing to take this risk precisely because we want to live a quality and beautiful life. Therefore, we will seize every suitable opportunity, with the help of qualified experts, physiotherapists, and massage therapists, to achieve these small steps of happiness and kindness, because we have repeatedly convinced ourselves that the staff at ADELI is generous, empathetic, professional, cordial, and warmly welcomes us. We highly appreciate this. As we have already mentioned above in our In a short story, they wanted So that we could travel with your financial assistance, soar in the clouds, and fulfill our dreams, learn even more foreign languages, because we only know English and partially German. However, our biggest dream is to become independent and be a fully functioning part of society.
We both studied social work at the Secondary Vocational School of Pedagogy in Trnava. This study lasted 4 years, we made many friends and left behind the stereotypical gates full of underestimation and mockery. frustration simply by wanting to show those around us that a lot can be achieved even with DMO, you just need to think positively, be surrounded by the right people, and life that's it finally, my sister and I specialized in special education, and both of us, through our own efforts, gained education, recognition, and a degree. Dis , which we do not consider the most important. Health and the opportunity to develop with everything life offers us are more important to us than education. .
Thank you in advance for your support and financial assistance. , Mom a Lenka Ščepánkové , because mainly thanks to your initiative and funding, we can constantly be on the move and lead an active life.
