Mirka is proof of strength, perseverance, and optimism. She doesn't give up and has taken her fate firmly into her own hands. A magical person who radiates spirit from all sides. She admits that she has worse and weaker days too, but „no, I never give up. Thanks to my husband, daughter, and mother, I find the strength to go on.“
She was born with spina bifida and underwent surgery at 9 months old. Later, her Achilles tendons were surgically „corrected.“ „I have paraparesis of both lower limbs. Being as mobile and independent as possible has been my main goal since childhood,“ says Mirka, the mother of a beautiful 11-year-old daughter. „And healthy.“
Mirka never indulged in self-pity and didn't want special exceptions for her disability. On the contrary, she always performed at one hundred percent and still does – discipline must be in her genes. She graduated from high school and has been working continuously since she was twenty, while also exercising and rehabilitating.
She first visited ADELI in 2025 because of the ADELI CYBER CHALLENGE program. She is inclined towards innovation and welcomes and wants to try every opportunity for progress. Everything new literally attracts her. Her condition worsened in the spring of 2024, as an MRI confirmed a lipoma pressing on her spinal cord, causing radiculopathy, which manifests as pain, tingling, and numbness. „My gait has significantly worsened; my leg gives out for no reason, and I fall. My toes drop, and I often trip. The pain shot mainly into my left leg. Therefore, I was happy to be selected for the ADELI CYBER CHALLENGE program.“
Mirka's enthusiasm didn't fade even during her stay. During her first training session with the exoskeleton, Mirka was already walking correctly. „Straight. The machine kept me in the right motion, and I realized how many tiny movements human walking actually consists of. It's a really great thing.“ Her husband is even more expressive about the exoskeleton, calling it a miracle. By the end of her stay, his wife was immensely encouraged mentally – she also significantly strengthened her muscles and improved her posture. This is very important for walking.
Mirka will not give to ADELI allow. She knows she wants to come here and needs to return again. As she says herself, she needs to focus more intensely on herself, „I am looking for opportunities and ways to improve my health. So that I can fully devote myself to my family, household, and work. And ADELI is the right direction. Besides the professional physiotherapy, which is at a very professional and top-notch level here, I am enthusiastic about the overall atmosphere. Customers come first here, and it shows everywhere. In the gym, in the dining hall, in the cafe, in the room, in the hallways, and at the reception.
However, Mirka also needs financial help from kind people for further therapy. She thanks everyone in advance from the bottom of her heart for every euro donated.
