He was immediately transported by helicopter to Kramáre in Bratislava, where doctors diagnosed bleeding in his brain caused by a ruptured blood vessel due to an arteriovenous malformation. People often live their entire lives unaware of this vascular disorder in the brain. Many people live with it without any symptoms. Everything happened suddenly and without warning for Marek as well. Doctors stated that Marek didn't arrive at five minutes to twelve, but already after twelve. After a complex surgery, he was in critical condition for several days, and no one knew if he would even wake up. He eventually opened his eyes and began to react slowly. However, the bleeding in his brain left severe consequences – Marek was paralyzed on one side of his body and was completely bedridden; he couldn't speak – he was trapped in his own body. Further serious complications arose in the intensive care unit – he developed pneumonia, high fever, and an intestinal infection. „Everything piled up on him; we were all helpless, fearing the worst,“ recalls his mother, Lucia. However, the young man fought brilliantly. He went directly from the hospital to a rehabilitation stay in Kováčová. Completely bedridden, completely dependent on others for care. Marek did not accept this mentally easily. However, in Kováčová, they discovered that his memory center remained intact. „That was the biggest boost for us, that we must and will fight. His mouth slowly began to open, and today he can communicate. His speech is short, choppy, but real and understandable. In addition to physiotherapy, speech therapy is also fundamental for us.“

Marek was also significantly helped by stays in a hyperbaric chamber, where he attended Adeli as an outpatient. Today, Marek is still battling the consequences of his diagnosis. However, he looks at the world optimistically, although those dark moments and feelings still exist. He doesn't have it easy, but the foundation is that he wants to. „I really want to walk, that's the most important thing,“ says the likable, curly-haired boy cautiously, who was completely pumped up during his first rehabilitation stay at Adeli. He can sit in a wheelchair, and what's more, with support, he can stand for 10-15 minutes. He really likes seeing the world from a height. That's why he needs and wants to return to Adeli. He has his whole life ahead of him, he plans to finish school, he studied mechatronics, to return to his friends, to live as independent a life as possible. He is a great fighter; every small progress moves him forward and motivates him to continue.

He turns to good people with a plea for help so that he can continue his rehabilitation and therapies, which give him a chance to stand on his own two feet again.
