Majo was walking home from his long-time girlfriend's house via a route he knew very well. He was crossing a pedestrian crossing in Zvolen and “less ”attentive driver“ didn't notice Marián. The accident is under investigation. “Our whole family is focused on our brother, to help him in his difficult fight," says Martina, the younger Sister Mariána. Maťa was on vacation when her sister called her to say Mariána had been hit by a car and was in bad shape. Very bad shape. „We immediately cut our vacation short and flew to Slovakia,“ adds Maťa.
Majo suffered a serious head injury, for three His heart stopped beating for minutes. Thanks to passersby who provided him with first aid until the rescuers arrived, Marián is alive. „He is with us, but unfortunately, he is very different. He is in a vegetative state, has a tracheostomy tube, and receives nutrition through a PEG tube. He underwent a difficult brain surgery, and they had to remove part of his skull. His condition is serious, but for us, it's not definitive. We are not coming to terms with that.". Paradoxically, Majo had no external injuries. Only that “scratch” on his head, which was fatal. “The former career soldier, who was in excellent physical condition, is still fighting from his hospital bed. He is practically on antibiotics non-stop; bacteria are complicating his treatment. „But he finally has good results now, we all believe we'll hit rock bottom and start moving forward.”
Mom needs rehabilitate, stimulate the brain. In January, he is scheduled for a craniotomy, which involves reattaching the skull bone. We will do everything we can to bring our Majko as close to his life as possible, even though it will never be the same as it was. Hospital visits are difficult but also encouraging. Despite repeated medical statements that his condition is serious, the family is not giving up and is looking for options. They want to come to ADELI Medical Center as soon as possible, as they work with patients like Marián here. „And the first year after such an injury is literally crucial, we know that. But for a chance for Majko, we need the help of good people. Every euro donated means a lot to us. One day, Majo will surely thank everyone for their help himself. He is a brave, kind-hearted, and selfless man who deserves a second chance at life. In the hospital, he mainly reacts to his mother's voice, he knows us all, and he really wants to say something, but he can't... because of the tracheostomy.“
