A crumb who is interested in the whole world. Sociable, perceptive, he looks at every new face that passes him by. And he smiles sweetly at each one. Gabko. A little boy who wasn't born healthy, but despite that, he's a fighter who doesn't give up. And thanks to his parents, Mom Eva and Dad Gabo - they would do anything and everything for their only son. „We just want him to walk. Because there's a chance, and we're holding onto it,“ says Dad Gabo.
Eva gave birth in the 38th week., Weeks in the incubator followed, and after long months, the diagnosis came – cerebral palsy, spastic diplegia. Only someone who has experienced something similar can fully understand the fear and worries parents go through. „The only thing we've heard from doctors since the diagnosis was made is – exercise, rehabilitate, don't give up. And we function in that mode. Even through tears, the little one and I worked hard, with one single goal – if it's even a little bit possible – to get our Gabko on his feet,“ says mom Eva, who answers without hesitation when asked how often she exercises with her son.„
Mentally, little Gabko is completely fine. He understands everything you tell him, even bilingually. He picks up both Hungarian and Slovak. Because he lives in a bilingual environment. He sits up by himself, eats by himself, and gets the most joy from cars and tractors. He's crazy about vehicles, plays four-wheeled machines to his heart's content, and smiles from ear to ear. But he also feels like a king in the water, in the sand, on the swing. He loves throwing stones into the water, and his parents would prefer if he threw them while standing. „If only he would stand on his own two feet.“
They came to the ADELI Medical Center for the first time in May 2025. „And we didn't understand,“ comments father Gabo with love in his eyes. After an intensive rehabilitation stay, all three of them went home on their own. „The little one started walking, and we were speechless with emotion. Yes, it's still with support, but my manly dream of going for a walk in town with my son – two guys, dad and son – it's incredible! He can do it without a stroller now. I hold him and help him, but the stroller stays at home! I swear by Adeli, and we believe this is just the beginning. Gabko has good muscle mass, he's fearless, and with intensive drill, he'll surely soon be running on his own. However, it will take a few more stays at ADELI because it's intensive, the therapists are great, and Gabko cooperates incredibly. He enjoys it.“
In ADELI, his tongue also loosened, the language barrier crumbled, and the little boy began to communicate boldly. „We practice at home according to ADELI, the progress is great, but we need to come back here. Our Gabko will walk; he's almost at the finish line and has to make it. We thank everyone who helps us on the journey to our son's fulfilling life.“
