A fresh adult has her priorities clearly defined. She knows what she wants to be and how she wants to live. Because, as she says, „We can function normally too, even with a disability, right?“ Lea.
She's a twin and came into the world second. „They saw my sister Ema first; they had to wait for me,“ she says with a smile. But she no longer had enough oxygen, and that affected the twins' basic development. Emka is healthy, Lea is fighting fate. After extensive investigations, a diagnosis of spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy was finally made.
A blessing in disguise was and still is that „Leuška is mentally fine, her legs and arms don't obey, but her head, thank God, works,“ says father Ľuboš, who has been taking care of his twins alone since they were six years old. There's no need to dwell on the details, just the fact that their mother didn't give the children much love, quite the opposite... It's been years since she's seen or contacted the girls. Ľuboš: „We manage as a trio, and we're not complaining. Well, pardon me, we're four, we still have a dog,“ jokes the heroic father, who is Lea's right hand in everything. Her disability has deprived her of independence in almost every common task – dressing, washing, going to the toilet, brushing her hair. Lea: „But I can eat, and I can write, I have a special grip, but I can manage. Although, the easiest and actually most effective way is to type on a PC keyboard.“
She's a high school student studying media graphic design. She really enjoys her studies and is meticulous – she won't leave her computer until the assignment is finished. „She's fair, speaks the truth directly, but also knows how to listen to others. She absolutely loves reading; on her stay at ADELI, it's always at least three books. She's not picky; she'll eat absolutely anything – which makes me happy,“ Ľuboš concludes with a smile.
What does ADELI give them? Lea knows it quite precisely – the hope that she will one day walk, with three-point crutches or at least with a walker. „Nothing can replace intensive rehabilitation, I feel great here, excellent therapists, I'm tired after every day, but that's good. And I have fresh news, I've never stood so relatively stably as now, after a week of rehabilitation, that's my latest progress. It gives me great hope and motivation to push myself, really,“ her eyes light up and she smiles from ear to ear. Happy Lea. After graduating from high school, she can imagine working in an advertising agency, designing websites, and maybe „one day I'll work for www.nadaciaadeli.sk“
She also dreams of family happiness – having a great partner by her side who will truly love her and „perhaps we could have a child too,“ Lea says, adding: „There's nothing unusual about that, is there?“
